CANOE RENTAL
Teams can rent canoes from La Croix Outfittes. The canoe will be dropped off and picked up by a representative from La Croix so that teams do not have to transport their own canoes.
Call Ron Bushbaum at 1-888-600-2842 for rentals. |

5:30am |
Day 4 starts early, because we need all the daylight we can get. You'll Canoe 50 miles to Crane Lake, beginning at the Timbuktu, yes Timbuktu, Landing. Then you paddle across Lake Vermilion to the Vermilion River. The river has 11 portages, up to 1 mile in length, with terrain that is approximately 50% hills. River current is normally very slow with an average depth of 4 to 5 feet. The last two miles in the canoe are open water, lake paddling. Tired or not you will notice that the Vermillion River flows through some of the most beautiful country in the United States. The celebration begins for each team as soon as the racers dump their boats at the Crane Lake finish line. That's the only respectable way to finish the MNB2B, by the way. Just make sure valuables like sunglasses, etc. are stowed before you take the plunge. |
